The study of the efficacy of drugs in experimental form of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome

Abstract

Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) – is a zoonotic natural focal viral infection that causes disease in people of different severity depending on the serotype of the pathogen.

The aim of this work was to evaluate the protective effectiveness of the combined use of high-molecular interferon inducer Ridostin and Virazol in relation to an experimental form of Hantavirus infection in white mice.

Material and methods. Experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of the drugs were performed using 12-day-old white mice subcutaneously infected with the Hantaan virus at a dose of 10 LD50. The infectious titer of the virus was determined by the method of negative colonies on a permanent culture of African green monkey kidney cells GMK-AH-1(D). The levels of MDA, AlAT, AsAT, creatinine, and urea were evaluated using standard test kits. The level of circulatory IFN (cIFN) produced by the white blood cells IFN-α and γ was evaluated by suppressing the cytoxic activity of the vesicular stomatitis virus according to the generally accepted method.

Results and discussion. With the combined use of drugs, there was a decrease in kidney damage (a decrease in creatinine levels by 65.8%, urea-by 100% in the group of treated animals in relation to the control). The infected treated animals showed normalization of liver function (levels of AlAT and AsAT within normal values) and a decrease in the violation of the POL system (a decrease in the level of MDA by 41.8%). As a result of the use of drugs, there is almost complete normalization of hematological parameters in animals (the content of white blood cells, white blood cell formula), there is a more pronounced activation of the interferon system, which is a favorable prognostic moment in the development of infection.
