Problems of ethical and deontological education of medicine students

Abstract

Personal growth and professional development of a future doctor constitutes the ultimate objective of the teaching and educational process in a medical university. It involves the acquisition of professionally significant knowledge, skills and value-semantic guidelines.

The aim of the study is to assess the effectiveness of the method for applying a set of situational tasks. They are aimed at ethical and deontological education of medical students within the framework of a personality-oriented approach.

Material and methods. The method of a pedagogical experiment is used for research. The original methods of conducting classes were used as the implementation of a personality-oriented approach for ethical and deontological education of students of a medical university.

Two groups were formed: observations (n=100), in which in addition to the educational process of students were offered original sets of ethical and deontological situational tasks, and comparisons (n=95), in the educational process of which this educational component was absent.

Results and discussion. Students of the observation group, in contrast to the comparison group, during the final testing and questioning, in 65% of cases showed the ability and readiness to implement ethical and deontological principles in their professional activities.

Conclusion. The proposed method of teaching allows to increase the efficiency and quality of education and upbringing, and also creates favorable conditions for the formation of the necessary competencies, including the ability and willingness to implement ethical and deontological principles in professional activities.
