Cytokine status in female patients with brucellosis with kidney damage

Abstract

Brucellosis is accompanied by damage to almost all organs and systems of the human body. The study of the pathogenesis of brucellosis nephropathy in women of fertile age is relevant. To identify the relationship of cytokine status with nephropathy, 150 patients with brucellosis in the age of 15-50 years were examined. The results of the study indicate a high incidence of nephropathy (31.3%) in women with brucellosis, who showed an increase in acute phase-related protein reactions (increased levels of rheumatic factor and C-reactive protein), increased blood concentrations of interleukins 1β and 6, as well as tumor necrosis factor- α. Consequently, in the pathogenesis of various clinical forms of brucellosis in women, regardless of kidney damage, proinflammatory activity of the cytokine status is noted.
