Late tuberculosis detection in a child of tender age without BСG vaccination exposed to tuberculosis family contact

Abstract

The article presents a clinical case of tuberculosis in a child of tender age having HIV infected mother. Late detection of tuberculosis in a child, absence of BCG vaccination at birth, exposure to unregistered tuberculosis patient caused the development of disseminated disease with complicated course. The formation of pronounced residual lesions in lungs led to surgical treatment in spite of the adequate chemotherapy. The cause of the late TB diagnosis is revealed. It is the lack of necessary supervision of the child at risk group at general public health institutions and TB service.
