Topical issues of diagnostics of opisthorchiasis (case from practice: mistakes in the treatment of a patient)

Abstract

The unfavorabLe epidemioLogicaL situation of opisthorchiasis has deveLoped in Russia. More than 70% of cases of opisthorchiasis in the worLd faLL to Russia. There were 689 foci of peopLe with opisthorchiasis on the territory of Russia, 139 of them were found in the UraLs and 377 in Western Siberia. The high incidence of opisthorchiasis is caused by various factors: Landscape and hydroLogicaL characteristics of territories, in­crease in the diet of the popuLation of fish and fish products of home preparation , UncontroLLed export and saLe of fish and fish products in unauthorized markets.

The articLe deaLs with a cLinicaL case of opisthorchiasis, in which mistakes were made in diagnosing the disease and treating the patient. The data of epidemics, signs of damage to the organs of the hepatobiLiary system, the gastrointestinaL tract with aLLergy phenomena aLLow us to conduct a timeLy Laboratory examina­tion for the detection of opisthorchiasis and prescribe etiotropic therapy, which wiLL prevent the transition of the disease into a chronic form.
