Prevalence of HCV infection among population of compact habitation of low-numbered peoples of the North of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)

Abstract

The RepubLic of Sakha (Yakutia) is a region with high prevaLence of chronic viraL hepatitis, with rising incidence of the C hepatitis, with frequent diseased young peopLe. The compLexity of studying the incidence and prevaLence of HCV-infection is bound with its Latent for the majority of patients, as weLL as the insuf­ficient examination of the popuLation in detached residence of indigenous peopLe of Yakutia.

Objective. To study the cLinicaL and epidemioLogicaL characteristics of the HCV-infection among indig­enous peopLe of Yakutia.

Material and methods. The examination incLuded representatives of Indigenous peopLe of the North (Evenki, Yakut and Yukaghir) for the presence of hepatitis C virus. CompLex cLinicaL, seroLogicaL and moLecuLar bioLogicaL research methods to study genotype of hepatitis C virus were conducted.

Results. HCV-infection is mostLy identified among the Indigenous peopLe of the North (among Yukaghir -14.2% and among the Evenki - 2.4%). During anaLysis of HCV transmission routes prevaiLs intra pathway -41.7%, which is expLained by the traditionaL way of Life, Low avaiLabiLity of speciaLized medicaL care in de­tached residence and inaccessibLe region of Yakutia. There were no significant differences in the distribution of genotypes of HCV virus in districts and ethnic groups of the repubLic have been identified, genotype 1b predominates in generaL - 68.6%. MorphoLogicaL examination of Liver tissue in patients with chronic HCV-infected with genotype 1b is represented in 37.8% of cirrhotic initiaL stage of the disease.

Conclusion. Our study has demonstrated that the high intensity circuLating HCV-infection among aduLts of working age of the minorities of the North of Yakutia which is due to Late diagnosis and the terms of the pubLic Life. The organization of mobiLe teams of experts with mobiLe Laboratories for the earLy detection of patients with viraL hepatitis, taking measures for the prevention of viraL hepatitis among high-risk groups and the famiLy hearth is the most reaListic measure in the Northern territories.
