Evaluation findings for clinical and economic effectiveness of perinatal HIV prevention interventions in the Sverdlovsk Region

Material and methods. We used methods of clinical and economic analysis to calculate the economic efficiency of prevention of perinatal transmission of HIV from mother to child. For the period 2010-2014 the study included 2105 pregnant HIV-positive women in Yekaterinburg. The calculation of the cost of dispensary observation of a child with HIV infection (diagnosis, treatment, social benefits).
The results of research and discussion.The calculation of the cost of one case of HIV transmission from mother to child given the standard of diagnosis and treatment. The total cost of conducting a three-stage chemoprophylaxis for the last three years has increased 2.4 times, the share of which has increased the share of expenditures related to prevention in the first stage of PMTCT. The costs of dispensary observation of a child with HIV infection within 12 months increased slightly, due to the cost of diagnosis and treatment costs decreased by 10%, with an increase of 97.8% of the value of social benefits by 2014.
Conclusion. This study allows to state the need for further study socio-economic significance of the cost of diagnosis and treatment at different stages of observation of HIV-infected pregnant women and HIV-infected children for the development of recommendations for their reduction, which allows us to consider art as prevention of HIV infection.
