Methods of laboratory diagnosis of Q fever and genotyping of Coxiella burnetii

AbstractThe current information about methods of laboratory diagnosis of Q fever is presented in this review based on the literature data and the results of many years of our researches. Depending on the purpose of the study a selection of different immunological and molecular genetic methods is recommended for detection of antibodies to Coxiella burnetii or identification of the causative agent in various biological samples. The efficiency of genotyping methods of Coxiella burnetii, having different discriminative ability to solve epidemiological problems, was also analyzed.
