AbstractProtection against ascending genitaL tract infection can onLy be guaranteed with the use of combination therapy aimed at reducing the number of bacteriaL pathogens in the vagina and improving generaL and LocaL immune resistance. The addition of interferons to the combination therapy of mixed vaginaL infections is weLL justified. We provide an overview of the cLinicaL studies carried out by different institutions to assess the efficacy of the combined medication Vagiferon®, containing recombinant interferon aLpha-2b, metronidazoLe and fLuconazoLe. The resuLts of these cLinicaL studies demonstrate a high efficacy of this medication in the treatment of bacteriaL vaginosis and mixed viraL and bacteriaL infections.
