The epidemiological situation of brucellosis the Russian Federation and the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States

Abstract

The review provides an analysis and assessment the epidemiological situation of brucellosis in the Russian Federation and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) for 2010–2014 biennium. It is shown that brucellosis is endemic in most of the CIS countries and constitutes a real biological threat. Along with the Russian Federation tense epidemiological situation of brucellosis is stored in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Armenia, which is associated with a high incidence among animals epidemiologically important species – cattle and sheep, goats. To increase the effectiveness of the measures taken to combat brucellosis in Russia and the CIS countries, we need to strengthen regional cooperation in order to develop a common strategy in the fight against brucellosis.
