Influenza, acute respiratory viral infections: problems of prevention and treatment

Abstract

The incidence of acute respiratory viral infections, including influenza, remains high, showing an annual increase in autumn and in winter. The recent epidemiologically sensitive seasons witnessed simultaneous circulation of certain types and subtypes of influenza A virus, including its pandemic strain. Found among most frequently registered SARS are currently parainfluenza and adeno/respiratory-syncytial infection. The variability of influenza viruses and emergence of new SARS pathogens pose constant threat. In the treatment and prevention of SARS and influenza, medications belonging in various groups are used, with interferon inducers enjoying a significant advantage among them. The latter include an original domestic drug, Kagocel, which indications for use state prevention and treatment of influenza and other acute respiratory viral infections in adults and children from 3 years.
