Non-productive cough

AbstractCough is a common problem in childhood as well as in adult population. Cough serves a physiological purpose by clearing the airways of excessive mucus, irritants, or abnormal substances such as edema fluid or pus. However, viral and bacterial infections, asthma, passive smoking, cystic fibrosis, aspirated foreign body, congenital anatomic abnormalities and other can manifest cough as a first major symptom. Various causes of cough, different length of its course require a differentiated approach to the treatment assignment. Chronic cough is justified use of a combination preparation having both an expectorant and antitussive action. Drugs, using in pediatric practice should combine efficacy and safety. Combination of butamirate and guaifenesin correspond this requirements.
