Analysis of the results of the questionnaire for medical students on stigmatization and discrimination of HIV-infected

Abstract

The aim to assess the possibility of stigmatization and discrimination of HIV-infected students at a medical university.

Material and methods. The study was conducted by the method of a sociological survey, which was attended by 464 students of the Faculty of Medicine of the A.I. Yevdokimov Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry, Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation: 175 1st year students, 95 5th year students and 194 6th year students.

Results. The study of the distribution of stigmatization among medical university students allowed us to establish positive and negative trends in attitudes towards HIV-infected people, which generally turned out to be tolerant. The study identified issues that should be given more attention in classes on HIV infection, including legal, ethical and legal, and preventive medicine.

Conclusion. The conducted sociological research suggests that it is necessary to pay more attention to the issues of HIV discrimination when working with students and residents in order to prevent stigmatization of HIV-infected patients by medical professionals.
