Clinical and pathogenetic significance of metabolic disorders in infectious mononucleosis
AbstractAim - the purpose of the work is to reveal the features of the changes of lipid peroxidation processes and cytokine profile indices in patients with infectious mononucleosis of various severity courses in the dynamics of infectious process.
Material and methods. The patients under observation included 58 patients aged from 15 to 35 years (19±4 years) with a diagnosis ''Infection mononucleosis Epstein-Barr of virus etiology'' confirmed by EIA (IgM to VCA and IgG to EA. We included 2 groups in the study. The first group consisted of 30 patients with moderate degree of infection mononucleosis, the second group consisted of 28 patients with severe course of a disease. The biochemical values (bilirubin, alanine transaminase, serum glutamate-oxaloacetate-transaminase, C-reactive protein) are assessed. Over time, the level of lipid peroxidation products in the blood serum (hydroperoxide, malondialdehyde, caeruloplasmin) and cytokines (interleukin-1β, -4, -6) are determined.
Results and discussion. We have revealed that in patients with infectious mononucleosis the lipid peroxidation processes and antioxidative protection, and also the condition of the indices of cytokine profile depended on the period of disease and severity of pathological process. Reliably higher and stable changes of biochemical indices, level of lipid peroxidation products content and cytokine profile indices are noted in patients with severe course of disease. In the recovery period these indices were higher in comparison with healthy people. The obtained results allow us to confirm the presence of metabolic disorders undress the infectious mononucleosis, the intensity of which is different depending on the infectious process severity.
